Powerful portraits abound as Free First Saturday takes its cue from the current exhibition Chuck Close: Self-Portraits 1967–2005. Activities are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Performance: The “I” Project

Head to the stage to watch teen actors from the Youth Performance Company stand up and tell their story in The “I” Project.
Art-making for the Whole Family: Portrait Power
12 noon–4 pm, Star Tribune Foundation Art Lab
Picture yourself in print! Make a self-portrait on a professional printing press with artists from Highpoint Center for Printmaking. Draw inspiration from self-portraits on view in the Art Lab by children from Free Arts Minnesota.
Minnesota Family Project

Photographer Quito Ziegler is traveling throughout Minnesota, shooting portraits of people she meets along the way and exhibiting them in her giant truck. Stop by and say cheese when she parks her Minnesota Family Project near the Garden.
